How do I love thee?

Let me count the ways.....at least 50 different flavors of olive oils and balsamic vinegars.

Where can these tempting delights be found?  At Joe and Son's Olive Press located at 3401 W. Bay to Bay Blvd in Tampa, Florida.

This new store is promoting an unusual concept of tasting before you buy.  Either the store owner or the store manager will greet you and guide you as you explore the many flavors that are guaranteed to tempt your palate.

I was of the opinion that all olive oils and balsamic vinegars were equal..... that is, until I sampled these wonderful offerings.  One taste, and I was hooked.

If you weren't at the Grand Opening of the store on 11/11/11, you missed the opportunity to taste many delicious foods made with these oils and vinegars.

But don't despair.....there are recipes available next to each Fusti so you can see how easily each oil or vinegar can be used as part of a tasty, healthy meal.

For those who are unsure about how to combine the different oils and vinegars, there are recommended pairings to make things easier for you.

Here's a surprise suggestion for a delicious and quick dessert:

Vanilla ice cream drizzled with Blood Orange EVOO and Serrano Chili Honey Vinegar..........sweet with heat......the perfect way to end a meal.

  1. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with new recipes using Joe and Son's EVOO's and Balsamic Vinegars...

We used the Organic Butter EVOO combined with the Mushroom and Sage EVOO as a basting agent for our turkey. It was amazing both in taste and in presentation. I've never before cooked a bird that had such a crisp outer skin with a golden glow. I swear, it looked like it had a California tan.

We also served Roast Gratin Potatoes prepared with White Truffle EVOO. Goodness, the lowly potato reached new culinary heights when prepared in this manner.

Then, in addition to the standard Pecan Pie we prepared a Cranberry Bread Pudding enhanced by the flavors of Cranberry Pear Balsamic Vinegar and Butter Flavored EVOO. Who knew that these flavored Balsamic vinegars would be at home in sweet desserts?

Have any of you tried the recipes found at the store next to the Fustis? As you come in and taste, be sure to check the recipes out. You'll find new ways to prepare old foods that will make them come alive with taste!
